Location and facilities which afforded total privacy.
Was down a quiet Lane way and totally private and secure, not part of a hotel or complex, a totally private little house. Nice and central, just off Padma, great spot and close walk to th beach. Had a huge bath which my kids loved, and was great to have a little house of our own.
Someone who stayed there before us must have been smoking inside cos it stunk, but that cleared after a couple of days. The pool was at a nearby hotel, not in th villa, so although only a couple of hundred metres away we didn't go up there much. Over all a great little spot.
The Villa, very nice with the outdoors' space, the staff, espacially the manager Agung who's been very helpful There's access to a hotel next door, stangely deserted, with a small pool.
The location: very hard to find (no taxi knows where it is, so make sure you do arrange to meet the manager somewhere when you arrive), at the end of a small alley. Close to the beach as crows fly but not that close in reality. The noise: it's probably as quiet as it gets in that area yet near the villa is a constant noise of motorcycles, while inside the villa the sound of the neighbours' waterpump is there to bother you.
Agung was a great help - very freindly.
In fact, Sanur has always been our favourite base in Bali as it's a pretty laid back and there are more choices of more traditional types of villas there. However, since my 2 teenage girls asked to stay in Legian, I decided to try my luck by staying in Villa Legian and booked it through Booked.net. What my family enjoyed the most about Villa Legian was its being peaceful for the distance from the madding crowd yet it's only a few hundred metres away from the beach, with lots of good restaurants. Secondly, the quick and professional response from Agung, one of the staff really impressed me.
The smaller bedroom's cleanliness seemed to be looked over. My daughters found stains and smelled something similar to sweaton the pillow cases and bed cover. Plus there were some grains of sands on the bedsheet. However, those will not keep us from staying in the villa the next time we come to Bali :)
